Timperley Looks to Continue Winning Form

Brock Timperley will be looking to continue his race winning form in class two of the BNT V8s when the new season gets underway at Pukekohe this weekend.

Timperley had a strong back end of the season and took out rookie of the year honours for class two in 2017/18.

“Our speed was great throughout the season, particularly at rounds like Teretonga and Manfeild where we won the round. Having just missed out on winning the championship I was grateful to take away rookie of the year,” says Timperley.

With clutch issues plaguing his campaign last season, Timperley says he and his team have gone to extra efforts to ensure the reccuring problem is fixed.

“In the off season our main priority has been to get this clutch sorted for good as it gave us so much grief last year. I am really excited to see how fast this car will be around Pukekohe as we had a mixed run there last year.”

With limited dry running last year at Pukekohe and at times monsoon conditions, Timperley is looking forward to the challenge of the demanding South Auckland circuit.

“Last year the conditions were insane. We were aqua planning at 150-180kph down the back straight.

“Pukekohe is a very intense track with no room for error. Concrete walls are everywhere to make sure that if you make a mistake you learn from it. The track is still very bumpy, it takes a lot of commitment through the first sector to put in a decent lap time.

“It’s a commitment game over the hill, the most dangerous part of the circuit as I’ve seen many cars act like pinballs off those walls. But if you get it right, it’s pretty rewarding.

“We had good speed there last year, were just unlucky with the results. Looking forward to getting there over the weekend and see what we can do. Hopefully it will be dry.”

Timperley might be in for another chaotic weekend, with rain forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
