At the north Waikato circuit, Ross qualified third behind Andre Heimgartner and Jason Bargwanna before going on to record an eighth placing, a first and a second over the weekends three races in his Total Lubricants Nissan Altima.
After a punishing season of racing that took him from the V8 Supercar races at Pukekohe all the way to Invercargill and back to Hampton Downs, Christchurch driver Jack Milligan has won the 2017-2018 Toyota 86 Championship with a race to spare.
Andre Heimgartner has claimed the 2017/18 BNT V8s Championship at Hampton Downs this weekend, while Liam MacDonald clinched his second title in class two.
Locked in a battle with his teammate Jason Bagwanna, Heimgartner had to merely finish all three races this weekend to gather enough points to win.
Bargwanna backed up his win on Saturday with another win this morning where he was followed to the line by the Nissan of Nick Ross and the Holden of Jack Smith.
Smith won the final race of the day followed by Ross and Bargwanna.
Invercargill racing driver Liam MacDonald has made it back to back titles in Class 2 of the BNT V8’s Championship after the final round at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park in North Waikato this weekend.
Last year MacDonald dominated the championship but this year he did it the hard way, dominating early on before overcoming plenty of adversity through the middle rounds of the season. However he still racked up seven race wins in the Speedy Signs Ford Falcon during the campaign to clinch the title in the eighteenth and final race of the season on Sunday afternoon.
‘This place is just off the scale,” said Kiwi racer Aaron Burson (McRae GM1) after a weekend best second place finish in the feature length 12-lap F5000 category final on Sunday afternoon.
Toyota Camry driver Jason Bargwanna has taken the first win of the weekend in the final round of the BNT V8s Championship at Hampton Downs.
Bargwanna earlier clinched pole position from teammate Andre Heimgartner - both drivers locked in battle to claim the driver’s title.
At the chequered flag, Heimgartner followed Bargwanna to the line in second position, with Lance Hughes in his Holden coming third.
