The Event Director finds that it was reported by your team that Championship seals NZ048710 and NZ048709 had been removed from your engine between Ruapuna and this round. You advised that the engine had been sent away for a 'tune up'. During this exercise it became necessary to remove the heads. The engine builder had indicated that he would obtain the necessary approvals. However this did not happen. It was confirmed by Barry Carrington, Championship Scrutineer that no record of prior authorization for removal as required in Article CH 29.3 & 29.4 had been received. Given your explanation I accept that there was no intention to decieve and it was a lack of action on your engine builders behalf. Not withstanding that it is a fundamental and well established requirement that authorisation is required prior to breaking a technical seal. This responsibility is that of the competitor. This is particularly important in a technically restricted category like NZV8s. The seals were fitted on Friday 26 November 2010. This engine was used at round 2- Ruapuna.
The Event Director rules that Penalty CH 40.11.2 applie. $600.00 fine. Exclusion of all races and removal of points since the seal was applied, eg, Round 2-Ruapuna- Race 9,14 & 18.
