ARTICLE 9 - POINTS

9.1 As per Article 9.2, points will be allocated at each Round for overall Round classification in each Championship title based on finishing order for each Day of the Round.

9.2 Points will be allocated as follows.

1st 32 2nd 27 3rd 23 4th 20 5th 18 6th 16 7th 14 8th 13 9th 12 10th 11
11th 10 12th 9 13th 8 14th 7 15th 6 16th 5 17th 4 18th 3 19th 2 20th 1

The overall Round winner will be the competitor accumulating the highest points score from Days 1&2 combined (or Day 1 if a single Day event). In the event of a tie the Round winner shall be the competitor (from those tied on points) with the lowest elapsed time including any penalties over both Days ( or Day 1 if a single Day event)
Additionally the first three places overall (points accumulated and tie break taken into account) will receive the following bonus points:

9.3 Rejoining

9.3.1 A competing vehicle which fails to finish the first Day at any Multi Day Round, will be permitted to restart the second Day of that Round.

This will apply to any vehicle which has been excluded on the grounds of exceeding the latest allowable limit or has failed to report to a control but will not apply where the car has been excluded for breach of eligibility requirements, traffic infringements or by decision of the Stewards.

Any vehicle which fails to finish a Day in accordance with the above may be repaired at the Competitor’s discretion.  However, the vehicle must report to the start area prior to the scheduled start of the next Day.

The Entrant must advise the Organisers of the intention to start the next Day, prior to the start of the Stewards meeting at the end of the Day which the vehicle has failed to finish.

The vehicle must retain the original body-shell and engine block as started the Event. Prior to restarting a Day the vehicle must pass inspection by the Scrutineers.

ARTICLE 10 - AWARDS

    1. Titles
  1. At the MotorSport NZ Annual Awards dinner to be held in Wellington in May 2009 the following awards will be made:

i.     The NZ Gold Star for Rallies – Driver and Co Drivers contesting the Group N 4WD or 2WD championship (overall points based on finish order at all Rounds)
ii.    The Rally Champions Trophy (to be held for approximately 1yr)
iii    The Co-Driver Champions Rose Bowl

      1. MotorSport NZ Rally Champion (contested in Group N 4WD cars) will receive:
  1. The Group N 4WD Champion Drivers Award 
      1. MotorSport NZ Rally Co-driver Champion (contested in Group N 4WD cars) will receive:
  1. The Group N 4WD Champion Co-Drivers Award

10.1.3 MotorSport NZ Rally Champion (contested in Group N 2WD cars) will receive:
            a.      The Group N 2WD Champion Drivers Award
           
10.1.4 MotorSport NZ Rally Champion  (Group N 2WD) Co-driver Champion will receive:
a.         The Group N 2WD Champion Co-Drivers Award

10.1.5 MotorSport NZ Junior Rally Champion will receive:

  1. The Junior Champion Drivers Award, and
  2. The Junior Champions Rose Bowl.

A Junior is defined as a competitor registered for the Championship who was under 25 years of age as at 1 January 2009.

10.1.6 MotorSport NZ Kiwi 2 (2WD) Rally Champion will receive:

  1. The Kiwi 2 Champion Drivers Award, and
  2. The Kiwi 2 Champions Rose Bowl.

10.1.7 MotorSport NZ Kiwi 2 (2WD) Co-driver Champion will receive:
a.         The Kiwi 2 Champion Co-Drivers Award, and
b.         The Kiwi 2 Champions Rose Bowl.

10.1.8 MotorSport NZ Classic Challenge Trophy winner will receive:
            a.         The Classic Drivers Award, and
            b.         The Classic Challenge Trophy

10.1.9 MotorSport NZ Classic Challenge Trophy Co-driver winner will receive:
            a.         The Classic Co-Drivers Award, and
            b.         The Classic Co-Drivers Rose Bowl.

10.2    Manufacturers Trophy

10.2.1 At each Round of the Championship the Manufacturers who have cars competing in Group N will nominate a maximum of two Principal Drivers entered whose points will be recorded. (Note that points will be awarded after each Day). These nominations are to be forwarded to the Championship Coordinator before the start of each Round.

10.2.2 The Manufacturer who at the conclusion of all Rounds of the Championship has the highest aggregate points score will be awarded the title NZ Rally Manufacturers Champion.

The NZ Rally Manufacturers Champion will receive

  1. The Manufacturers Award, and
  2. The Manufacturers Cup.

10.3    MotorSport NZ Rookie Driver - This title will be awarded to the Principal Driver nominated on the Championship Registration Card who has gained the highest aggregate number of points on overall placings from the Championship Rounds who is registered for the Championship for the first time. Any Driver who has previously held any seeding position at any level in another country’s national championship or FIA event will be deemed ineligible for this award.

            The Champion will receive “The Rookie Drivers Award.”

    1. MotorSport NZ Rookie Co-Driver - This title will be awarded to the Principal Co-Driver nominated on the Championship Registration Card who has gained the highest aggregate number of points on overall placings from the Championship Rounds who is registered for the Championship for the first time.

            The Champion will receive “The Rookie Co-Drivers Award.”

10.4    Ties in the Championship or Awards

            Any award in the Championship which has resulted in a tie will be determined by taking into account firstly the number of superior placings obtained and progressing down the finishing positions in all the Rounds counting for the Championship until the tie is broken.

If a tie still exists then MotorSport NZ will either declare a winner OR declare two or more drivers (as may be appropriate) to be equal winners of the Championship.
