ARTICLE 7 – DETERMINATION OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP

7.1 Number of Rounds

The Championship shall comprise 6 Rounds. Competitors are able to drop their worst round for overall Mainland Series Championship and drop their worst two rounds for classes A, B, C, D, E, and F. Note that Driver’s and Co-drivers points ARE NOT transferable between classes.
7.1.1 Should a driver/co-driver change classes during the season, points from both classes shall be accumulated towards overall Drivers/Co-drivers Points.
7.1.2 The Coordinator reserves the right to either cancel or amend any Rounds due to "force majeure" without affecting in any way its power to award any title.

7.2 Points

(a) Points for Overall are based on overall placing in each round and will be allocated to the Drivers and Co-Drivers in accordance with the following scale:

1st 30 2nd 26 3rd 23 4th 20 5th 18 6th 16 7th 14 8th 13 9th 12 10th 11
11th 10 12th 9 13th 8 14th 7 15th 6 16th 5 17th 4 18th 3 19th 2 20th 1

(b) Points for each class are based on placing in each round and will be allocated to the Drivers and Co-Drivers in accordance with the following scale:

1st 20 2nd 16 3rd 14 4th 12 5th 10 6th 9 7th 8
8th 7 9th 6 10th 5 11th 4 12th 3 13th 2 14th 1

(c) 1 point to all other registered drivers and co-drivers who start in each class
Note: A “Start” in the event is as defined in the National Sporting Code.

(d) 2 points to all other registered drivers and co-drivers who finish in each class
Note: A “Finish” in the event is as defined in the National Sporting Code.

7.3 Determination of Ties

7.3.1 Should a "dead heat" occur in any round of the Championship, the points allocated to the position "dead heated" and the next following position(s) in the Rally will be added together and equally divided between the competitors concerned.
7.3.2 In the event of a "tie" in the final points tally of the Championship for any placing, the best placing shall be determined by reference to the greater number of superior positions won in the various categories from which the points derive (e.g. the number of first places, then the number of second places etc.).
7.3.3 In the event that the previous paragraphs (7.3.2 and 7.3.3) above prove ineffective in determining a winner, then the Coordinator shall, after taking into account such considerations as they deem to be desirable, either declare a winner or declare two or more competitors (as may be appropriate) to be the equal winners of the Championship or class.
