LEITCH GAINS POSITION
Teenage racing star, Damon Leitch of Invercargill, has been promoted one place in the revised results of the final race of the second round of the MTA Formula Ford Championship at Pukekohe Park Raceway last weekend.
Leitch drove his Zero Fees Stealth across the line fourth in the race to complement a third and a fourth placing in the two earlier races. Those results earned him his first national series podium spot as he claimed third overall for the round. However a penalty applied to the winner of the final race, Richie Stanaway, for driving behaviour has seen Leitch promoted to third in the final race. The promotion very nearly elevated him one step up the podium as the revised points saw him miss second place overall for the round by just one point.
The fifteen year old James Hargest College student now lies fifth overall in the championship on an extremely close points table.
The Fomula Ford category provided some of the most exciting racing of the weekend at Pukekohe and the young Southlander was right amongst the frantic wheel to wheel action.
