TAURANGA CLUBMAN’S NOVICE RALLY RETURNS
MotorSport Bay of Plenty Inc, in association with The Radio Networks Classics Hits
95BOPFM, is pleased to announce the return of their Tauranga Clubmans’s Novice Rally, set
for Saturday 27 March 2010. After a one year stand down the rally returns better than ever.
“We are really excited about the rally, and have made a couple of small tweaks to improve
what we believe was already a fantastic event” comments Rally Committee Chairman David
Loughlin.
The rally sees a slight gain in special stage distance to just over 130km, but the big change isthe reduction of the touring to a measly 166km!
“For a 130km rally that has got to be one of the best ratios of special to touring distances in
New Zealand at present” says an enthusiastic Loughlin.
The rally has an excellent range of stages to give valuable experience to novices and
experienced drivers alike. There is a mix of immaculate county roads and forestry, ranging in
distance from 8km to just under 30km, and with tight stages to fast open blasts through the
forest. With some fast becoming iconic stages for this rally – the likes of Mangatoi, Taumata
and the well known Maniatutu - the event is sure to be one not to miss.
With the usual emphasis for this rally on the Novice competitor, the Organising Committee
encourage any and all questions, and are more than happy to assist, with their motto being
“the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask”.
